Steven Jackson joins from Mott MacDonald as Director
Base Quantum, the rapidly expanding commercial consultancy and expert witness practice, has made the strategic hire of former Mott MacDonald Projects Director, Steven Jackson, to further strengthen its international team and bolster its global presence. Steven will lead the International Claims division at the company, working closely with CEO Duncan Hughes-Phillips.
This year marks Base Quantum’s fifth birthday and in that short time, the business has grown substantially in both size and expertise – from a team of 3 at the end of 2012 to a team of 54 by the end of 2016. Its reputation is also expanding, having secured significant repeat instructions with some of the largest global law firms, acting on behalf of major government bodies and employers across a multitude of sectors. As a result, Base Quantum is now working on jobs in locations across six continents, including two of the largest infrastructure projects in the Middle East.
In a career spanning over 40 years, Steven has worked as a quantity surveyor, commercial manager and projects director across all construction sectors; from commercial property developments through to marine civil engineering, highways, bridges, water and sewage treatment, oil and gas and power generation in all its forms, including hydropower and renewables.
His extensive experience has seen him become a specialist in the commercial management of major infrastructure projects and all aspects of contract advisory work and sustainable procurements, with an emphasis on hydropower and the renewable energy sector.
Duncan Hughes-Phillips, CEO at Base Quantum, commented:
As Base Quantum has continued to expand, we have made some very exciting internal promotions and external hires to provide the foundation for Base Quantum’s growing international presence. We offer such a high standard of service that we have been able to compete with some of the biggest companies in the world – and hold our own. We seek out new ways of doing things that have allowed us to establish a major presence in the industry, and using collaboration we have broken down the barriers to entry into the international arbitration market.
“Steven will be joining a strong and dedicated team at Base Quantum, and his strategic appointment to lead the International Claims division will see him play an integral role in the development of the business as an internationally renowned, global practice.”
Steven Jackson added:
Base Quantum has gone from strength to strength over the past five years, successfully competing with some of the most established, global multidisciplinary practices worldwide, and are punching above their weight with the projects that they are currently working on.
“I have a long-established professional relationship with Duncan and, having watched the tremendous growth of Base Quantum’s reputation, I am looking forward to working with him once again to lead and grow the International Claims division.”
