Maidenhead Waterways Restoration

Background

In conjunction with Maidenhead Waterways Restoration Group, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead aimed to restore the waterways which run through Maidenhead Town Centre.

The waterways were enlarged in the 1960s to act as a flood defence for the town, but with the formation of the Jubilee River in the 1990s the waterways became neglected and overgrown. Then, in 2012, the Maidenhead Waterways Restoration Group achieved planning permission for restoration.

The disused channels have now been converted into valuable amenity suitable for boat and water related activities, walking and cycling. The project has contributed to the rejuvenation of Maidenhead, alongside the Elizabeth Line (Crossrail) and other large commercial developments.

Our Services

Appointed as both project quantity surveyor and project manager on the restoration project, our team provided the following services:

  • Project management, as per the NEC3 contract;
  • Co-ordination of services between the Project Manager and QS team;
  • Preparation of interim valuations;
  • Preparation of monthly cost reports;
  • Assessment of compensation events;
  • Attending project meetings and leading the commercial review; and
  • Coordination between the client, contractor and designers.
